We create safe environments for all kinds of kids- even the most troubled boys and girls.

Imagine being nine years old and totally alone with no family or friends. “Jenny” had been shuttled from one foster home to another since she was five. The foster care homes she lived in just weren't structured to deal with her increasingly severe mood swings and anger. As with many troubled children, the louder she called for help, the less real help she received. Secret Harbor gave Jenny what might have been her first real chance for a real life. We helped her foster parents create a safe and lasting environment by setting up a structured home experience which included counseling and teaching her living skills. At the same time we trained her foster parents and gave them additional support, including periodic 24-hour respites so they could rest and recharge. The result? Today you wouldn't be able to pick Jenny out of a crowd of healthy and happy pre-teens.

At Secret Harbor, we save kids who are in danger. We provide them with essential structure and stability to develop healthy relationships. Our foster care and residential treatment programs provide safe places for even the toughest kids to learn to succeed, using and building on their own strengths. Our single goal: To restore their laughter, dignity and place in the community.

For instance, our residential program removes troubled boys from their normal environment and influences, and places them in a beautiful island setting. There they learn and practice the values of work, relationships and community, so they can become their most successful selves.

We are located in the northwest corner of Washington State with facilities in Anacortes, Burlington and Cypress Island.
