Helping Hands
Secret Harbor uses all of the situations life presents to give its kids the opportunity to learn about responsibility and the joy of doing meaningful things.
A few years ago, five boys from the Residential Treatment Program helped to fill sandbags for placement along the flooding Skagit River. They were among hundreds of community volunteers who worked tirelessly to save the downtown Burlington area by building walls of sandbags, which were placed in the vulnerable downtown area. While the river crested above flood level, the sandbags worked to keep water out of the nearby shops and businesses. Secret Harbor is proud of the boys who participated in this activity of giving back to the community.
